Martyr's Mirror  (Martyr's Mirror)
22.9 MB 19-Aug-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Braght, Thielem J. van; Translator: Sohm, Joseph F.
Module version: 1.0
Description: This is an Appreciation Resource

THE
BLOODY THEATRE,
OR
MARTYRS MIRROR
OF THE
DEFENSELESS CHRISTIANS,
who baptized only upon Confession of Faith, and who suffered and died for the testimony of Jesus, their Savior, from the time of Christ to the year A. D. 1660.
COMPILED FROM VARIOUS AUTHENTIC CHRONICLES, MEMORIALS, AND TESTIMONIES, BY
THIELEM J. van BRAGHT.
Translated from the original Dutch or Holland language from the Edition of 1660,
BY JOSEPH F. SOHM.

As the English language, year by year, becomes more prevalent among our Mennonite people, the necessity of presenting to them in that language the doctrines, teachings and practices, as well as the story of the sufferings, the faithful endurance and the final triumphant deaths, of those of like faith with us who lived in the earlier ages of Christianity, becomes apparent to every reflecting mind.
These doctrines, teachings and practices together with the examples of faithful devotion to Christ and his word, and the unfaltering endurance under the severest persecution, are powerful incentives to Christians to-day, to inspire many sincere souls to live a more consecrated life, to practice greater self-denial, to live more separated from the world, and show a greater zeal in the work of the Lord and the salvation of souls; and they are especially precious to us, as Mennonites, because through these people it pleased God to hand down to us the living exemplification of the peculiar tenets and doctrines which we hold and practice at the present day.
The reading of books of this kind will also help us to appreciate more highly the privileges with which God has blessed us above our forefathers. While they oftentimes were not permitted to have permanent places of abode, and were driven about and hunted down like wild beasts, compelled to dwell in caves and mountains, and other secluded places, hold their meetings in secret, and suffer every imaginable form of injustice and persecution, because to be a true follower of Christ in those days was considered the very worst of crimes, we enjoy all the privileges of citizenship and are protected in the fullest enjoyment of our religion and forms of worship.
It is the duty of the Church to maintain and teach the pure gospel of Jesus Christ and to transmit the same to coming generations, and as we contemplate these facts, what a glorious treasure of pure Christian devotion shines forth in these pages of the Story of the Martyrs, and how much this grand record of their sufferings has done, and may yet do to perpetuate the pure doctrines of the gospel, eternity alone will reveal.
For these reasons and many others that might be referred to, the publishers of this edition, have, in the fear of God, for the promotion of his glory, undertaken the publication of “The Bloody Theatre or Martyrs Mirror” and herewith give it to the public, in the hope that it may be the means of promoting the glory of God and of doing much good among the children of men.
Note.—The translation of this work was made from the Dutch Edition of 1660, and where questions of doubt occurred, the edition of 1685 as well as the German editions were consulted.

NIV Ezra Nehemiah  (NIV Ezra Nehemiah)
15 MB 27-Jun-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Petter, Donna; Petter, Thomas
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Ezra-Nehemiah chronicles the return of the exiles to Jerusalem during the Persian Period. Empowered by the Persian authorities, Ezra and Nehemiah came on the scene in Jerusalem to restore the worship of the “God of Heaven” and the sanctity of Zion and His people. God’s sovereignty over temporal powers, confession of sin and repentance, and worship according to Yahweh’s holiness undergird the account. In the face of tremendous odds, opposition and betrayal, both Ezra and Nehemiah displayed selflessness and devotion by following their calling and trusting God’s plan. In the commentary, Donna and Thomas Petter lead us through this narrative of restoration and help us discover how to apply Scripture to our lives today.

NIV Psalms 2  (NIV Psalms 2)
11.5 MB 23-Jun-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Tucker, W. Dennis Jr.; Grant, Jamie A.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Perhaps more clearly than any other part of the biblical canon, the book of Psalms includes human words directed to God. Yet, through the Holy Spirit, these honest, sometimes brutal words return to us as the Word of God. Their agonies and exaltations reflect more than the human condition in which they were created. Within the context of the canonical Psalter, they become the source of divine guidance, challenge, confrontation, and comfort. It is possible, however, to misapply them. How can we use the book of Psalms in a way that faithfully connects God’s meaning in them and his intentions for them with our circumstances today?

In continuity with Gerald Wilson’s work in Psalms, Volume 1, Dennis Tucker and Jamie Grant reveal the links between the Bible and our present times. While they consider each psalm independently, they go much further, examining whole groups of psalms and, ultimately, the entire Psalter, seeking its purpose and use for the days of Hebrew temple worship through church history. In so doing, the authors open our eyes to ageless truths for our twenty-first-century lives.

NIV Jonah,Nahum,Habakkuk,Zephaniah  (NIV Jonah,Nahum,Habakkuk,Zephaniah)
3.4 MB 21-May-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Bruckner, James K.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

The prophets Jonah, Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah all spoke to a nation that had to deal with violent enemies. While Jonah took his message to the city of Nineveh, the others faced the crisis of a new power: Babylon. Eventually, the Babylonian Empire destroyed Nineveh as prophesied by Nahum, and later destroyed Jerusalem as prophesied by Habakkuk and Zephaniah. Although these four prophets come from the distant past, they still call God’s people to consider what it means to be faithful when violent enemies press upon them. They offer God’s hope and resources in the midst of personal and societal crises.

In Jonah, Nahum, Habakkuk, and Zephaniah [NIVAC] James Bruckner draws these lessons out of the ancient context and then masterfully applies them to our own modern context wherein it seems that crisis is the state of normality. Rejecting the belief that God does not teach us through difficult times, Bruckner shows how God works in our lives at precisely the moment we think all is lost.

Author(s): Boda, Mark J.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

The books of Haggai and Zechariah are rarely recognized for the formative role they play in Israel’s history and the NT understanding of Christ.

In Haggai, Zechariah [NIVAC] Mark Boda shows us that the books tell of a golden period in Old Testament history, but that these prophets also speak powerfully to the church today. They call us to a community of faith, to the priority of God’s house, and inspire us with glimpses of its future glory.

7.5 MB 08-May-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Baker, David W.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

These three short prophetic books of the Old Testament each contain a dual message. On one hand are messages of impending judgmentfor all peoples on the Day of the Lord, for an enemy of Israel, and for Israel herself. On the other hand are messages of great hopeof the pouring out of God’s Placing judgment and hope together in such a manner may seem paradoxical to a contemporary mindset. But the complete message of these prophets gives a fuller picture of Godwho despises and rightly judges sin and rebellion, but who also lovingly invites people to return to him so that he might bestow his wonderful grace and blessings. It is a message no less timely today than when these books were first written, and David W. Baker skillfully bridges the centuries in helping believers today understand and apply it.

Author(s): Smith, Gary V.

Description:

What would Hosea, Amos, Micah say if they came to today’s church or saw what was happening in modern culture? Hosea would find prostitution, Amos would find the poor being oppressed and Micah would still find corruption in high places.

In Hosea/Amos/Micah [NIVAC], Gary Smith examines original meanings and historical contexts to reveal the contemporary significance of these three powerful and unbending prophetic books and show that society still falls short of god’s standards and requires both his judgment and his love.

This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Duguid, Iain M.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

When you are attempting to understand a book as enigmatic and as flatly strange as Ezekiel, you want a skill experienced guide who maintains a firm doctrinal grounding. Ian Duguid, author of this commentary Ezekiel [NIVAC] was a perfect selection for this job by editors of the NIVAC series as he has written extensively on the prophets and understand the critical task of translating their seemingly other worldly message into the lives of Christians today.

With a rarely-matched mastery of the entire prophetic corpus, Iain Duguid reminds us the message is as relevant today as in Ezekiel’s day. This world is not our home, but we can learn to live as exiles, with endurance and hope.

Description:

It seems that every commentary series produces one truly great classic commentary. While the NIVAC series has produced many wonderful volumes, none compares to the over 500 pages of sheer excellance in commentary writing that John Oswalt has produced in Isaiah [NIVAC].

Oswalt, who has written multiple major commentaries on Isaiah, here skillfully sorts through the complex historical details and the timeless prophecies Isaiah made in light of those circumstances, and brilliantly applies them to our world and our lives as those living under reign of the messiah that the prophet could only see from a distance.

NIV Psalms1  (NIV Psalms1)
15.1 MB 11-Apr-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Wilson, Gerald H.
Module version: 1.0
Description: Perhaps more clearly than any other part of the biblical canon, the Psalms are human words directed toward God. It is possible, however, to miss apply them. How can we use the Psalms in a way that faithfully connects God’s meaning in them and his intentions for them with our circumstances today.

Drawing on over twenty years of study Gerald H. Wilson in Psalms, Vol. 1 [NIVAC] provides critical links between the Bible and the modern world. While he considers each psalm in itself, Wilson goes much further, examining whole groups of Psalms and, ultimately, the entire Psalter (though this volume is limited to Psalms 1-72 in terms of Psalms under specific discussion), its purpose, and its use from the days of the Hebrew temple worship onward through church history. In so doing, Wilson opens our eyes to ageless truths for our lives here and now.

11.1 MB 16-Feb-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Hill, Andrew. E
Module version: 1.0
Description:

The Chronicles are more than a history of ancient Israel under the ascent and rule of the Davidic dynasty. They are a story whose grand theme is hope. Great battles are fought, heroes and tyrants vie for power, Israel splits into rival kingdoms, and the soul of God’s holy nation oscillates between faithlessness and revival. Yet above this tossing sea of human events, God’s covenant promises reign untroubled and supreme.

In 1&2 Chronicles [NIVAC] demonstrates how the revelation of Yahweh moves the purposes of teh divine plan forward in the midst of fallible people. Andrew Hill shows that God has a plan to which he is committed, in the ancient world and therefore also today. God redirects our vision from our circumstances in this turbulent world to the surety of his kingdom and to himself as our source of confidence and peace.

10.7 MB 07-Feb-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Konkel, August H.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Readers of 1 and 2 Kings commonly approach these books as a straightforward chronology of post-Davidic Israel: the inauguration of Solomon’s reign, the division of the kingdom following his death, and Israel’s and Judah’s ensuing kings, conflicts, captivities, and overarching spiritual decline. In reality, however, the books of the Kings fall into the collection known as the Former Prophets, and their true story and underlying theme center on such striking personalities as Nathan, Elijah, Elisha, and other divinely appointed spokesmen. It is God’s interaction with his people by way of his prophets and their kings his pleadings, his warnings, and the fulfillment of his words that comes across again and again with forcefulness and clarity. God speaks; now will his people hear, believe, and respond?

In 1&2 Kings August Konkel shows us that these questions and issues remain pertinent for us today. Bridging the centuries Konkel connects past context to contemporary circumstances, helping us grasp the meaning and significance of 1 and 2 Kings and understand how its myriad lessons and circumstances can inform our knowledge of God and decisions to act in today’s world.

Author(s): Arnold, Bill T.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Why do the books of Samuel pack such broad appeal? Taken together as a single narrative, they certainly offer something for everyone: kings and prophets, great battles and greater heroes, action and romance, loyalty and betrayal, the mundane and the miraculous. In Samuel, we meet Saul, David, Goliath, Jonathan, Bathsheba, the witch of Endor, and other unforgettable characters. And we encounter ourselves. For while the culture and conditions of Israel under its first kings is vastly different from our own, the basic issues of humans in relation to God, the Great King, have not changed. Sin, repentance, forgiveness, adversity, prayer, faith, and the promises of God—these continue to play out in our lives today.

Exploring the links between the Bible and our own times, Bill T. Arnold shares perspectives on 1 and 2 Samuel that reveal ageless truths for our twenty-first-century lives.

NIV Joshua  (NIV Joshua)
11.3 MB 03-Feb-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Hubbard Jr. Robert L.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Reading Joshua can be a jarring experience. Serious, troubling questions about God’s attitude toward his created peoples arise, questions with no easy answer. But the book of Joshua presents itself, warts (and wars!) and all, and asks readers to let it tell its story from its point of view and out of its ancient context. It asks them to give it the benefit of the doubt and permit it to speak to them.

Joshua [NIVAC] aims to give its voice a clear hearing — to translate its ancient cultural form in such a way that it freely speaks about the life of faith today. Basically, the book of Joshua tells how biblical Israel navigated a major historical transition early in its national life. The book shows that guiding these changes is Israel’s God, Yahweh, through his chosen servant, Joshua. The introductory sections to follow set the scene for entering the book of Joshua and the ancient world about which it reports.

NIV Deuteronomy  (NIV Deuteronomy)
16.7 MB 26-Jan-2023
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Block, Daniel I.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Arranged as a series of sermons given by Moses, the book of Deuteronomy repre- sents the final major segment of the biography of Moses. These sermons review past events described in Genesis through Numbers and challenge Israel to faithful living as they look forward to life in the Promised Land.

The theological significance of Deuteronomy cannot be overestimated. Few books in the Bible proclaim such a relevant word of grace and gospel to the church today. At its heart, Deuteronomy celebrates the covenantal relationship between God and his people. God has graciously chosen Israel as his covenant partneland has faithfully demonstrated his covenantal commitment to them. Moses challenges the Israelites to respond by declaring that Yahweh alone is their God and by demonstrating unwaver- ing loyalty and total love for him through obedience.

Daniel Block highlights the unity between the God depicted in Deuteronomy and Jesus Christ; Jesus is Yahweh incarnate. Christians who understand the covenantal character of God and who live under the grace of Christ will happily receive the revelation of the will of God through Moses and resist the temptation to retreat into interior and subjective understandings of the life of faith so common in Western Christianity.

Author(s): McKnight, Scot
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Scot McKnight has emerged as one of the most popular and influential NT scholars of the last decade. His popular blog (Jesus Creed) attracts thousands of daily readers, and his books are perennial bestsellers that prove to be informative, edifying, and challenging.

1 Peter [NIVAC] is no exception to this rule. McKnight does an excellent job of illuminating the rich and troubled circumstances of the original reader’s while also skillfully Peter’s extensive moral exhortations in light of the original recipients’ context. McKnight, who also accepts the so-called “new perspective” on Paul, no doubt reads 1 Peter through similar lenses and equally draws the implications for this non-pauline book. A Master of Application, readers are in store for a rich reward of wisdom and practical extrapolations from the text.

9.3 MB 14-Nov-2022
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Hafemann, Scott J.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

The second letter Paul addressed to the eminently troubled church in Corinth is the most ministerially difficult and personally complex of all Paul’s letters. It brims with passionate self-defense, intense concern for the eternal destiny of the Corinthians, and even anger.

In 2 Corinthians [NIVAC] Scott J. Hafeman reconciles three key themes to one another that are critical to rightly understanding Paul’s second Corinthian letter: weakness, sufficiency, and the Holy Spirit. The weakness is Paul’s personally ability to succeed, the sufficiency is the fact that Paul does succeed, in spite of his weakness and the Holy Spirit is the power that enables this sufficiency in spite of weakness to occur. And in as much as these realities are true for Paul in his own life, he desperately wishes the Corinthians to accept them as well.

Description:

From the Back Cover

Today’s world is more fragmented than ever. Diversity often becomes the rallying cry for what is in truth separatism and alienation. The multiplied voices of disunity clamor with increasing volume–yet they are nothing new. It was on a fractured planet that Jesus Christ lived and ministered, and it is on this same planet two thousand years later that he continues to unite and heal the fault-lines of shattered humanity.
This is the message of Luke’s gospel. It is a gospel that crosses the borders between Jews and Gentiles, bringing together the unlikely and the disenfranchised under the brotherhood and lordship of one King, Christ. With carefully researched detail, Luke the historian presents and account of Jesus that is filled with meaning and promise for the entire world. It proclaims wholeness and restoration of humanity’s broken heart through inclusion into God’s kingdom.
Exploring the links between the Bible and our own times, Darrel L. Bock shares perspectives on the gospel of Luke that reveal its enduring relevance for our twenty-first-century lives.

Author(s): Garland, David E.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

From the Back Cover

When it comes to living the Christian life, beginnings are better than endings. That may be one of the most important lessons that the Gospel of Mark, by its very structure, teaches us.
Looking at life in terms of endings often leads to discontent, neuroses, and despair. We always want to win more, make more, succeed more. More is an insatiable taskmaster.
But the Gospel of Mark says the better way is to focus on beginnings. It gives answers; it gives meaning to suffering; it restores hope as the queen of virtues.
Mark displays Jesus Christ as the New Beginning, giving us all the chance to start over again at any time. The Gospel of mark, itself, starts abruptly and really has no ending, showing that Jesus makes it possible for the story of God, working in human history and in the church, to go on and on.

Author(s): Wilkins, Michael J.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

From the Back Cover

The importance of the Gospel of Matthew in church history cannot be overstated. For Jewish readers, it affirmed the Messiahship of Jesus, referring consistently to the Scriptures to establish his credentials. For Gentile disciples, it provided powerful and dramatic support of their inclusion in God’s kingdom. The cross of Christ had removed the division between Jew and non-Jew, and through Matthew’s writings we see Israel’s God drawing the entire world to himself through Jesus.
“The Gospel according to Matthew . . . was the most widely read and frequently used of any of the four Gospels in the formative years of the church,” writes Michael Wilkins. In this volume of the NIV Application Commentary, Wilkins explains Matthew’s broad appeal not only to his ancient readers, but also to us today. Exploring the links between the Bible and our own times, Wilkins shares perspectives on Matthew’s Gospel that reveal its enduring relevance for our twenty-first-century lives.

The NIV Application Commentary Series helps us with both halves of the interpretive task. This new and unique series shows readers how to bring an ancient message into a modern context. It explains not only what the Bible meant but also how it can speak powerfully today.

Description:

From the Back Cover

Sprinkled with cherished and memorable verses, Paul’s letter to the Philippians is for many a favorite book of the Bible. Written from prison, it serves as Paul’s missionary report and thank you to a faithful church, as well as a warm pastoral exhortation to make the advancement of the gospel their top priority. Paul models and calls for joy in the midst of suffering, warns against dangerous false teaching, and calls for Christian unity grounded in the example of the Lord Jesus.
In a day often marked by selfish ambition, spiritual laziness, disunity, and joyless living, Philippians contains an eminently practical message for contemporary Christians. Exploring the links between the Bible and our own times, Frank Thielman skillfully draws out the timeless truths of this loving letter in a lucid and powerful way.

From the Back Cover

Paul’s letter to the Ephesians shines with the brilliant reality of what being a Christian really means. We are far more than forgiven–we have been changed. Not just the way we live, but the very source and nature of our lives are different. In Christ, we are new creations, righteous, fit for fellowship with God, and even now seated “with him in the heavenly realms” (Eph. 2:6).
But what practical implications does this radical transformation have for us? In what ways does living in God’s grace affect our daily conduct? In Ephesians, Paul connects our identity in Christ to our lifestyles. We are God’s workmanship, he says; let us live out who we are. Whether the setting is the home, the church, or the marketplace, our lives ought to reflect our union with Christ.
Exploring the inks between the Bible and our own times, Klyne Snodgrass shares perspectives on the book of Ephesians that reveal its enduring relevance for our twenty-first-century lives.

Description:

Salvation by grace: we preach it, but do we live it? The reality is that too many Christians begin well but quickly gravitate toward jumping through religious hoops. What originated as simple, joyous, and liberating faith in Jesus somehow ends up in an exhausting attempt to “get it right.” If Paul the apostle were to visit our churches today, chances are he would write the book of Galatians all over again.
In Galatians, Paul reminds us of the total sufficiency of Jesus in securing our salvation, and of the leadership of the Holy Spirit for living it out. To add to that pure, unencumbered gospel is in fact to subtract from it and nullify the life-giving, transforming power of grace. This is the message of Galatians. Calling us back to the simplicity of Christ, Galatians is as critically important for us today as it was when Paul first penned it.
Exploring the links between the Bible and our own times, Scot McKnight shares perspectives on the letter to the Galatians that reveal its enduring relevance for our twenty-first-century lives.

Pontius Pilate’s question has found its echo in today’s society; What is truth? For many, it’s a negotiable item. But God doesn’t change, and his character and purposes aren’t subject to social whims. Living the gospel in our postmodern culture demands that we understand and internalize the truth about God and his plan for the world.
Paul’s letter to the Romans remains one of the most important expressions of Christian truth ever written. Its message forces us to evaluate who we are, who God is, and what our place in this world ought to be. Revealing the links between Paul’s times and our own, Douglas Moo helps us see how the eternal theology of Romans can be understood and lived out in our culture.

Description:

The very name “book of Acts” implies that Christianity is anything but passive. Making a quick and continuous connection between faith and action, the first-century church grew from a handful of Jewish believers into a movement that, sweeping far beyond the confines of Judea, set the entire Roman Empire ablaze with faith.
Faith and action: that inseparable link is a golden thread running through Acts, and it should weave through our own lives as well. While the world today is very different from what it was 2,000 years ago, one thing hasn’t changed: God’s heart for lost people. As longa s he continues to act on their behalf, he will call us to play an integral part in his deeds. Acts lifts us up out of the armchair and spurs us to kingdom action, trusting that God will be with us as surely as he was with Peter, Paul, John, and the infant church.

Module version: 1.0
Description:

From the Back Cover

The title character of the book of Job suffers terribly, but we should not mistakenly think that this book is just about Job. It is about all of us, and ultimately about God.
Many have thought that the book simply restates the perennial questions that plague humankind in a world full of suffering. But often our questions are limited to why the righteous suffer; we must learn instead to ask better questions so that we might find more significant answers. John Walton suggests that the book is ultimately about God’s righteousness and his sovereignty regarding all that happens in this world. Walton also shows the inadequacy of what he called “the Retribution Principle,” under which most of the characters in Job operate.
In a creative way, Walton brings in Kelly Lemon Vizcaino, a young Christian woman who from the age of twelve has suffered immensely as the result of an automobile accident. Throughout the commentary, reflections from Kelly show how Job’s experiences can help believers yet today cope with human suffering. –This text refers to the hardcover edition.

God speaks to the need in our lives by revealing the future before it happens. That process is called a prophecy of future events. This book is a study of the prophecies in the book of Revelation.

The book of Revelation is the grand and noble conclusion to the Bible. It captives our attention, stirs our imagination, and points us to our glorious future destiny. It shows the living relationship between the risen Christ and His Bride, the Church. It also records the final days of this world and reveals the glorious new world yet to come. The book of Revelation gives us hope for the future when God will make “all things new” (Rev.21:5.

Dr.Hindson simplifies the message of the Revelation so that you can easily understand it for yourself. He surveys the general content of this captivating book of prophecy with a view to keeping the big picture in mind, rather than getting lost in all the details. His approach is to keep the study focused on the key issues in each chapter.

The Book of Revelation has been called the epilogue of the unfolding drama of redemption. It’s God’s road map to help us understand  where human history is going. In the biblical record, human history begins in a garden and ends in the eternal city. It begins with tragedy and ends with triumph. It begins with man’s failure and ends with his exaltation. In between, there stands a cross! and on that cross, Jesus Christ changed the course of human history forever.

The message of the Bible represents the timeless truth of God. As each generation seeks to apply that truth to its specific context it becomes necessary for an up-to-date commentary to be created just for them. The editors and authors of the Twenty-First Century Biblical Commentary” have endeavored to do just that. They represent conservative, evangelical, and dispensational scholarship at its best.

Core Christianity: What Is Christianity All About?  (Core Christianity)
1.5 MB 31-Aug-2022
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Towns, Elmer
Module version: 1.0
Description:

There are a growing number of people who have mistaken ideas about Christianity. Why? Because the media’s politically correct agenda has redefined historical religious terms. Meanwhile, liberal Christianity denies the supernatural and explains away anything miraculous. Dr. Towns attempts to answer these problems. He takes the Bible at face value and explains Christianity’s basic concepts beginning with the premise that Christianity is a Person—Jesus Christ. Then chapter-by-chapter, he builds a coherent and consistent case so the reader will correctly understand what Christianity is all about.

  • The book gives a rational overview of Christianity so the modern mind will interact with God’s claim upon its life.
  • The book gives a comprehensive coverage of Christianity so the reader will intelligently understand what Christians believe and how they should live.

First & Second Timothy, Titus and Philemon: Goals to Godliness  (Timothy Titus Philemon)
1.9 MB 25-Aug-2022
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Ray, Charles; Couch Mal; Hindson. Ed
Module version: 1.0
Description:

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TODAY TO BE MORE LIKE CHRIST?

The key to achieving success in anything is to set reasonable goals and strive to meet them. The difficulty in striving to be like Christ is that we never ca be like Him-not perfectly, not until we are made new in His image in heaven. Yet, the fact that we cannot achieve perfection should never top us from anything good. So, the real question is, how is good is good enough? Any Christian who thinks he or she has nothing more to achieve in godliness and personal holiness is utterly deceived.

These books (especially 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus) are often referred to as the “Pastoral Epistles.” The name is certainly appropriate since these books provide the the most thorough statement of church government found anywhere in the New Testament . Paul’s combination of personal advice and apostolic injunction has set the pattern for church government for the past twenty-one centuries.

Yes these books are so much more than official letters on church policy. American scholar Homer Kent Jr. made a career out of studying these important letters in detail. He summed up his opinion of them, saying, “Not only is the content rich in doctrinal and practical discussion, so pertinent to the Christian life, but the historical, geographical, and personal notices make the letters colorful and intensely human.”

Charles Ray’s commentary is unique in that he emphasizes the personal, practical results Paul wanted to encourage every Christian to strive for in their daily walk. Here the reader will be challenged to see the goals Paul had in mind, and to incorporate them in his or her own life.

Gospel of John: Believe and Live, The  (Gospel of John: Believe and Live)
9.5 MB 19-Aug-2022

Author(s): Towns; Elmer
Module version: 1.0
Description:

This book will provide an in-depth and comprehensive look at where Bible prophecy, both fulfilled and yet-to-come, fits into God’s plan for believers and the nation of Israel. This book will take you through a detailed look at the difficult subject of prophecy using the incredible wealth of research and study provided by Dr. Edward Hindson, Dr. Mal Couch, Dr. Elmer Towns, and Dr. Robert Lightner. Their ultimate goal is to teach and encourage believers to know their Bibles in a more clear way. A series of study questions at the end of each chapter is designed to enable the reader to study the details of the book, which they can use on their own or in a group setting.

The message of the book of John is underlined by the use of two key words, believe, used ninety-eight times and life, used thirty-six times. In The Gospel of John, Elmer Towns places a particular emphasis on these words. The Apostle John wrote with a twofold purpose—as noted in 20:31—to communicate Christ through His miracles and teachings so men might, first, believe that Jesus was indeed who He said He was, the Son of God; and second, they might have eternal life because of their belief.

Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics  (Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics)
10.8 MB 24-Jun-2022
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Wallace, Daniel B.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

The first textbook that systematically links syntax and exegesis of the New Testament—perfect for students of Greek who are "second-year" or at an intermediate level.

For seminary students, the goal of studying Greek grammar in the first place is to ultimately get beyond the grammar itself and understand it well enough to use it in the accurate exegesis of biblical texts.

Greek Grammar Beyond the Basics—the most up-to-date Greek grammar available—integrates the technical requirements for proper Greek interpretation with the actual interests and needs of Bible students. It explores numerous syntactical categories, some of which have not previously been dealt with in print, and has a number of distinguishing features, including:

Exegetically significant illustrations, discussed in depth.

Semantic situations—or contexts for simple semantics—are developed and analyzed.

Expanded definitions and numerous examples and syntactical categories.

Grammatical statistics listed at the beginning of major sections.

Scores of charts, tables, and graphs.

Sound exegesis requires that the exegete consider grammar within a larger framework that includes context, lexeme, and other linguistic features. This textbook faithfully equips intermediate Greek students with the skills they need to do exegesis of biblical texts in a way that is faithful to their intended meaning.

The expanded edition contains a subject index, a Greek word index, and page numbers in the Syntax Summary section.

Author(s): Hixson, Elijah; Gurry, Peter J.

Description:

Since the unexpected popularity of Bart Ehrman’s bestselling Misquoting Jesus, textual criticism has become a staple of Christian apologetics.

Ehrman’s skepticism about recovering the original text of the New Testament does deserve a response. However, this renewed apologetic interest in textual criticism has created fresh problems for evangelicals. An unfortunate proliferation of myths, mistakes, and misinformation has arisen about this technical area of biblical studies.

In this volume Elijah Hixson and Peter Gurry, along with a team of New Testament textual critics, offer up-to-date, accurate information on the history and current state of the New Testament text that will serve apologists and Christian students even as it offers a self-corrective to evangelical excesses.

Handbook of Biblical Hebrew  (HandBookHebrew)
59.7 MB 29-Dec-2021
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): LaSor, William Sanford
Module version: 1.0
Description:

The Handbook, designed as a complete tool for the student of Biblical Hebrew, is the result of over twenty- five years of teaching the language. While it is primarily intended for use in Hebrew courses, it is also an excellent tool for a refresher course or useful as a basic grammatical reference work to aid the exegete. Similar in format to the author’s Handbook of New Testament Greek, it combines reading lessons (vol. 1) with grammar, paradigms, and basic vocabulary (vol. 2). William LaSor uses the inductive method, studying directly from the text, rather than the conventional method of language study in which beginning students learn the rules of grammar and syntax and memorize vocabulary, often without reading the actual text. Instead of memorizing numerous forms that will never be encountered in actual reading, the student learns only what he or she encounters.

The lessons are based on the Hebrew text of Esther, chosen because it presents little difficulty in theological or textual matters and has an excellent vocabulary. LaSor has included readings from other portions of the Bible, such as several chapters from Genesis, to introduce the student to Hebrew other than that found in Esther.

The diligent student of this method will learn not only the elements of Hebrew but also how to inductively study the language and how to learn by induction what the Hebrew text says.

Going Deeper with New Testament Greek  (Going Deeper w/NT Greek)
8.2 MB 02-Jul-2021
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Köstenberger, Andreas J.; Merkle, Benjamin L.; Plummer, Robert L.
Module version: 1.2
Description: In his final letter to his foremost disciple, the apostle Paul made this solemn appeal: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth” (2 Tim 2:15). The message is clear: Timothy (and, by implication, all teachers of God’s Word) must work hard to arrive at a correct interpretation of any given passage of Scripture. Such careful attention to correctly interpreting Scripture was to set Timothy apart from false teachers such as Hymenaeus and Philetus (2 Tim 2:17). Since the NT was written in Greek, and since inerrancy and inspiration extend specifically to the Scriptures in the autographs (original manuscripts), a good working knowledge of NT Greek greatly enhances one’s interpretive skill.

In this book, we hope to stir in you a passion, and to provide you with the necessary tools, to “go deeper” in your pursuit of your mastery of NT Greek. You’ve taken a course or two in elementary Greek, or perhaps taught yourself by using some of the many helpful tools that are available. You’ve memorized the most common Greek vocabulary, learned the basic forms of the Greek noun, adjective, and verb, studied foundational principles of Greek syntax, and tried your hand at translating NT texts of increasing difficulty. But you know that you’ve got more to learn. We want to help you take your knowledge of NT Greek to the next level, not as an end in itself but as a means to correctly interpreting and teaching God’s Word. So are you ready? Let us take a moment to get oriented, and then we’ll be off and running in our quest to “go deeper” with NT Greek.

Beginning with New Testament Greek  (Beginning w/NT Grk)
6.2 MB 30-Apr-2021
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Merkle, Benjamin L.; Plummer, Robert L.
Module version: 1.0
Description:

If you are a student who has been assigned this textbook, it is our prayer that it will help instill in you a passion for reading the Greek New Testament. After all, what is more exciting than reading the very words that God inspired? Our advice to you at this point is to follow carefully your instructor’s advice. If you are using this book for self-study, start each chapter by watching its brief overview video via the web links provided. After that, read the chapter, study the material, and test your mastery by doing the practice exercises at the end of the chapter. Answers to the exercises are found at the back of the book. Additional free materials are available for you at beginninggreek.com.

We wish we could also provide you with dozens of inspiring quotes or stories, advice on study habits, and many effective memory techniques. In fact, we do provide such a “personal trainer in paperback” for your Greek journey in our volume, Greek for Life: Strategies for Learning, Retaining, and Reviving New Testament Greek (Baker, 2017). We encourage you to read that volume along with this one.

Here we turn to address a broader audience—especially the professors who might adopt this textbook for classroom use. “There is no end to the making of many books” (Eccl 12:12). The biblical sage’s observation is especially true of New Testament Greek grammars penned in English. More than 100 introductory Greek grammars have been published in the last century. Why one more?

Advances in technology now enable the production of a textbook seamlessly integrated with other pedagogical resources, greatly improving student learning. (Note the web links throughout the book whereby students can immediately watch mini-lectures and listen to Greek vocabulary pronounced.) We recommend that you immediately check out beginninggreek.com to see many other free resources prepared for both students (vocabulary flashcards, PDFs of PowerPoint files, links to videos and other resources, etc.) and professors (tests, quizzes, PowerPoint files, syllabi, etc.).

Beginning Greek students need to be informed accurately and engagingly of the growing consensus among Greek scholars on verbal aspect, discourse functions of tenses, and middle voice/deponency. Recent decades of linguistic analysis have helped Greek scholarship to speak more precisely and objectively about patterns that the best Greek grammarians have observed for centuries. We are hopeful that students who use our textbook will never wander through the wasteland of confusion over these topics.

Though most beginning grammars do not discuss text criticism, commentaries, critical editions of the Greek New Testament, diagramming, Greek word studies, or digital resources, we have included a brief introductory essay for each one of these topics. A professor may choose to cover all, part, or none of these matters in the classroom, but students will have been provided with accurate, up-to-date information on critical matters—with recommendations of additional resources to explore the topics further.

The vocabulary lists at the end of each chapter provide working vocabulary for the following chapters. This simple and innovative tweak to the traditional method of learning Greek vocabulary enables students to focus on new grammatical concepts without the distraction of learning many new words at the same time.

Without sacrificing accuracy or essential detail, this textbook streamlines and consolidates essential Greek grammar into 24 chapters—giving professors maximum flexibility in choosing to cover the material in one or two semesters.

Though not original to our grammar, we also think the following features help increase its pedagogical effectiveness:

Each chapter begins with a “significance” section—looking at specific text from the Greek New Testament that illustrates the meaning payoff of the new grammatical category that is being introduced.

Chapters contain multiple practice exercises that isolate specific new skills before applying them to translation sentences.

All translation sentences come directly from the Greek New Testament—a great encouragement to students who are learning Greek in order to read the Bible more faithfully. If you find the exercises at the end of the chapter are taking your students too long, feel free to assign only a percentage of them.

An answer key is provided in the back of the book, allowing students to check their work immediately.

We love seeing students ablaze with a passion to read, understand, believe, obey, enjoy, and teach the Greek New Testament. It is our prayer and hope that this textbook aids in igniting that fire in many hearts.

Learn to Read New Testament Greek  (Learn to Read NT Greek)
4.1 MB 23-Apr-2021
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Black, David Alan
Module version: 1.1
Description:

Welcome to the study of Greek! The goal of this book is to help you learn to read and understand the Greek New Testament, even if you have never studied a foreign language before. Whether you are trying to write a solid expository sermon, prepare an accurate Sunday School lesson, express proper theology in the lyrics of a song, or translate the New Testament into a foreign language, New Testament Greek is a guide without which you are likely to stumble, or even miss the way. The focus throughout this book is on those aspects of grammar where Greek offers its greatest contributions to understanding the New Testament, contributions that are generally not attainable from an English translation.

The principles and methods used in Learn to Read New Testament Greek will enable you to make rapid progress in your studies. New information is introduced in small, manageable units, and points of grammar are fully explained and lavishly illustrated. After seventeen lessons you will begin reading selected passages from the Greek New Testament, and by the end of the course you will be able to read much of the New Testament without constant reference to a dictionary. You will also have an understanding of the structure of the Greek language, an ability to use commentaries and other works based on the Greek text, and a growing capacity to plumb the depths of God's revelation for yourself.

In Learn to Read New Testament Greek, rote memorization of grammatical forms has been kept to an absolute minimum. Instead, you will learn to recognize recurring patterns in words and how to interpret these through linguistic principles. This will equip you to read even unfamiliar passages from the New Testament with confidence. In addition, by learning the basic word lists, nearly seventy-five percent of the words of the New Testament will be familiar to you, and the rest will be within reach of an intelligent guess.

As you use this text, follow these simple instructions:

(1) When you begin a new lesson, read it through quickly. Then study it section by section, pausing at the end of each short section to assimilate its contents. Never begin a new lesson until you are thoroughly familiar with the previous one. If you are a member of a Greek class, ask questions on any point you do not understand. Your teacher will be pleased that you are sufficiently concerned to ask.

(2) When you feel you have understood the lesson, begin the exercises. To benefit most from the text, do all of the exercises. Each has been designed to give you extensive practice in using a specific Greek structure. If you are part of a Greek class, be careful not to fall behind in the exercises, since "catching up" is extremely difficult in an elementary course.

(3) Never write the English translations of words in your textbook. If you do, you will remember the English and forget the Greek. Instead, do all the exercises on a separate sheet of paper. Then read the exercises again, preferably aloud, until you are able to translate them easily and quickly.

(4) Finally, enjoy your studies and take pleasure in your progress. Don't get impatient if your pace seems slow. Learning a foreign language requires a great deal of time and effort. Claims of miracle-methods by which languages can be learned in a few days or weeks are utterly irresponsible and unfounded. On the other hand, if you make proper use of your instruction, you will be surprised how rapidly you progress. By the end of the course, you will actually be reading your New Testament in the original Greek!

Note: You will need to purchase as soon as possible an edition of the Greek New Testament. Two editions are widely used: the Nestle-Aland 27th edition (= NA27), and the United Bible Societies 4th (corrected) edition (= UBS4). UBS4 has the same text as NA27 but a different critical apparatus. It cites fewer variants but gives more detailed evidence for those cited. Both editions are available in a wide variety of bindings. UBS4 is also available bound with A Concise Greek-English Dictionary of the New Testament. Yet another important edition of the Greek New Testament is The New Testament in the Original Greek: Byzantine Textform, compiled and edited by Maurice Robinson and William G. Pierpont (Chilton Book Publishing, 2005), which takes a "majority text" position.

Primer of Biblical Greek, A  (CroyPrimer)
3.6 MB 03-Mar-2021
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

Author(s): Croy, N. Clayton
Module version: 1.0
Description:

Though there are currently a number of texts for teaching biblical Greek, most of them are plagued by various deficiencies. Written with these flaws in mind, this new primer by N. Clayton Croy offers an effective, single-volume introduction to biblical Greek that has proven successful in classrooms around the country.

This volume takes a primarily deductive approach to teaching biblical Greek and assumes that students have no prior knowledge of the language. Divided into 32 separate lessons, each containing a generous number of exercises, the text leads students from the Greek alphabet to a working understanding of the language of the Septuagint and the New Testament.

Special features of A Primer of Biblical Greek:

An abundance of exercises  Each lesson includes practice sentences taken from the Septuagint and the New Testament as well as Greek sentences composed by the author. Exercises in English-to-Greek translation are also included.

Concise but accurate grammatical explanations    Great care has been taken to insure that grammatical explanations are clear, correct, and succinct. In particular, the Greek participle receives a fuller-than-usual treatment.

A natural order of presentation    Material is presented according to the natural structure of Greek and the traditional terminology of grammarians. Declensions and principal parts, for example, are presented in numerical order.

Inclusive language    The book uses inclusive language for human beings throughout.

Helpful appendixes for quick reference    Included at the back of the book are the Greek paradigms, Greek-to-English vocabulary, English-to-Greek vocabulary, and a bibliography for further study.

About

Hebrew for Reading Comprehension is a first year Biblical Hebrew grammar which is designed to promote reading comprehension and translation precision while reducing the confusion of traditional grammars. Two major features which distinguish this from other grammars are a tremendous reduction of emphasis on vowel pointing and a paradigm-less approach to teaching verbs.

This Grammar's Differences

  • The end goal is always kept in mind: reading comprehension and translation precision.
  • Vowel pointing is not emphasized. Students learn to read unpointed and pointed Hebrew from the beginning. Exercises have both pointed and unpointed Hebrew.
  • Verbs and verbless clauses (i.e., sentences) are introduced at the very beginning so that the student feels like they are learning language as language, not as lists.
  • There is an almost complete lack of verb paradigms. Rather, verbs are introduced in the third person (all tenses/aspects), then the second person, then the first.
  • Students do not have to be trained linguists in order to utilize the textbook. Instead, the book includes reviews of basic grammatical terminology and explanations of other important terms.
  • Some traditional (confusing) linguistic terminology is avoided.
  • Here is a chart which compares this grammar with others. Click to download .pdf file.
  • Philosophy of the Grammar The following essays describe the philosophy underlying the grammar. These were both presented at Central States Society of Biblical Literature meetings. William P. Griffin, "Killing a Dead Language: A Case against Emphasizing Vowel Pointing when Teaching Biblical Hebrew," SBL Forum , n.p. [cited May 2007] William P. Griffin, "Breaking Old Paradigms: Further Reflections on Hebrew Pedagogy," paper presented at the Central States Society of Biblical Literature meeting, March, 2010.

Robertson was born at Cherbury near Chatham, Virginia. He was educated at Wake Forest (N. C.) College (M. A., 1885) and at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (SBTS), Louisville, Kentucky (Th. M., 1888), where he was thereafter instructor and professor of New Testament interpretation, and remained in that post until one day in 1934, when he dismissed his class early and went home and died of a stroke.

In all, he published 45 books, several of which are still in print today. Robertson helped found the Baptist World Alliance in 1900. He was an important Southern Baptist and a well-respected scholar in his day. Robertson sought to equip his students with the proper tools for good preaching.

"There is no greater need in the church in the United States today than the maturing of believers or, what the Bible calls, 'making disciples' (Matt.

28:18-20). Like a newborn babe, true spiritual growth is accompanied by a longing for spiritual food. This volume was written with that great need in mind. Equipping the Saints is 'food for the soul'. If we lead someone to Christ, it is imperative to help them grow. The Christian life is properly seen as the process of God conforming us to the moral image of Christ (Rom. 8:28-30), and bringing us to 'share in His holiness' (Heb. 12:10). This volume gives the believer a foundational understanding of the Christian life. It is time for the church to abandon its unbiblical and debilitating church growth, strategies and return to what God called the church to do; making disciples by equipping the saints (Eph. 4:11-12)."

This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

    Author(s): Cone, Christopher
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:

God-breathed. Profitable. These two words Paul conveys in 2 Timothy 3:16 to describe the word of God. That the Text is God-breathed attests to its authority, and that it is profitable attests to its sufficiency. The authority of Scripture has no limit for the believer – in its pages God demands complete submission of His children. Likewise the sufficiency of Scripture reaches to the farthest corners of the believer’s position and practice.

Paul describes the purpose of Scripture’s inspiration: “that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work” (2 Tim 3:17). God’s word is sufficient for the equipping of His people for the works He has planned for them (Eph 2:10). The divine prescriptions explain the believer’s course of action, oftentimes revealing the rationale for the action, and always pointing to the enablement needed and provided. In short, the true knowledge of Him provides everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Pet 1:3).

As such, we can rely on Scripture in every area of life. We will find no topic out of bounds, and no subject so controversial as to be avoided or lacking illumination in the pages of the Bible. Biblical Sufficiency Applied is an effort on the part of its several contributors to consider certain areas of contemporary controversy in the light of Scripture. We hope and pray that God uses this work both to challenge and encourage the reader to seek the answers in Scripture, and to be confident in the Biblical record as sufficient for every aspect of the believer’s life.

We are often told that good things come in small packages, and this is the case when it comes to the book of Jonah. Through just four chapters we discover many layers to the life of this prophet and to the character of the God who does not give up—whether on this prophet, or on the barbaric city he called this prophet to reach.
We follow Jonah on the run, on the beach, in the city and eventually in the great dock of God. As we uncover this dramatic story, we see that God has not only the will to reach a violent city, but also the grace to reach the heart of a stubborn prophet

Major revision of a landmark work in Old Testament scholarship
Ernst Würthwein’s introduction to the Biblia Hebraica has long served as a textbook for generations of students interested in the history of the Old Testament text and the problems of textual criticism. From its first appearance in 1952 to the fifth German edition in 1988, the book was faithfully updated by Würthwein himself in light of new research. But now a new edition of “Würthwein” is due.
While staying true to the original structure and character of Würthwein’s classic work, Alexander Fischer has rewritten the text completely to bring it up to date with the new Quinta edition of Biblia Hebraica. Besides updating information throughout, this edition includes a new chapter on the texts from the Qumran. This third edition of The Text of the Old Testament will be an indispensable resource for serious students of the Biblia Hebraica and Old Testament exegesis.
    REVIEWS
    Kristin De Troyer
    — University of St. Andrews
“This finely revised and nicely updated version of one of the classics in our field can truly be called a grand introduction to the history of the biblical text.”
    Leonard Greenspoon
    — Creighton University
“Readers familiar with Würthwein‘s earlier work will discover all of the strengths of his approach to Biblical Hebrew. Old and new readers will enjoy the thoroughly up-to-date discussion of the aims and methods of textual criticism as well as the unbiased analysis of ancient versions and their modern scholarly editions. Beautifully reproduced plates are easy to read, and the updated bibliography is satisfyingly full. . . . This successful project can be easily digested by newcomers and savored by specialists. “
    Robert L. Hubbard
    — North Park Theological Seminary
“A very welcome, thorough revision of the long-honored standard introduction to the Masoretic text. Its integration of recent scholarship is first-rate, and the rewritten text retains the clear, accessible style that won its predecessors decades of popularity as a textbook. Yet another generation of students will find in this book a friendly, reliable guide through the complex terrain of ancient Hebrew texts and their relationships. Highly commended.”
    The Bible Today
“Every scholar and serious Bible student should have a passing knowledge of the work of the text critic. This book will provide such knowledge.”
    Books at a Glance
“An important, up-to-date resource that will benefit everyone interested in Old Testament Textual criticism. The excellent bibliography, diagrams, and plates are unique contributions among introductory works in the field. Highly recommended.”

This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

    Author(s): Edwards, Brian. H
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:
Israel's first king began with great promise and ended in tragedy. The author traces Saul's head start into the monarchy and the accelerating spiral into possibly the most lamentable biography in the Bible. Along the way there is much to learn from a king whose story is told in Scripture so that we might learn the ways of a man who fell out with God and fell in with the powers of darkness. And there are surprises along the way, not least in the story of his son who, but for the purposes of God, would surely have made an excellent king.

However, on the blood-spattered walls of Beth Shan, the story does not quite end. There is another member of Saul's line who shines with bright hope and reflects the character of his godly father in contrast to that of his tragic grandfather. An accessible book for every reader which, as well as bringing the three characters of Saul, Jonathan and Mephibosheth to life and clarifying difficulties in the text, concludes every chapter with questions for thoughtful discussion suitable for group or personal study.

    Description:
    Evangelism.

What immediately springs to mind when you read that word? Whatever reaction you may have, evangelism is becoming increasingly dangerous in an apparently post-secular Western world, yet the church has a continuing mandate to be a witness and to share the great message of the gospel.

This book looks at the gospel adventures of Philip the Evangelist and draws lessons that will encourage, enliven and challenge you. It will ultimately also inspire you to lift up the sword of the Spirit boldly and, for the sake of lost souls, enter into the evangelistic fray.

    About the Author

William Wade is an evangelist to British Forces as part of the missionary organization SASRA, having previously spent seven years in the British Army. William also has an itinerant ministry to a wide range of churches in the South-East of England. He is married to Tulsi and they have two young daughters.

    Author(s): Jones, Colin. D
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:
The story of Samson is one of the most exciting and intriguing in the whole of Scripture. As the sub-title suggests, it is a simultaneous insight into his incredible strength and persistent weakness. We marvel at the thrilling accounts of unorthodox battles and awe inspiring demonstrations of physical power. Sadly, we also wonder at his apparent inability to learn from his own mistakes as he follows his passions to their inevitable end.

This rollercoaster of a story sweeps us from the rich promises accompanying his birth, though the tragedies and triumphs of his life. The story almost ends with the pitiable sight of him as the blind captive of his life-long enemies the Philistines. Yet, there is still one surprising twist to this epic tale 'victory through death. Throughout we trace the contrasts with the great Judge of Israel' Christ.

    About the Author

Colin D Jones has been in the ministry since 1971. He became the pastor of Three Bridges Free Church, Crawley in 1996 after twenty-two years of ministry at Wem Baptist Church, Shropshire. He is a long serving member of the Council of the FIEC and is author of Exploring Esther: Serving the unseen God, also published by Day One. Author(s): Ellsworth, Roger
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:
We can be glad for Mel Gibson's film, The Passion of the Christ, in at least one respect: it has familiarized many with the term 'Passion'. People now know it refers to the suffering of Jesus Christ. How did his suffering come to be called the 'passion'? The answer is our word 'passion' comes from the Latin word 'passio', which means 'suffering'.

The Passion of Christ is an inexhaustible subject. In these warm and challenging devotional studies, Roger Ellsworth takes a look at the Passion through the eyes of the people most closely associated with it. By reminding us again of the wonder of what Christ did on the cross for ordinary people, he encourages us to become more passionate about the Passion and how we serve our Saviour.

    About the Author

Having served for almost fifty years as a pastor, Roger Ellsworth is now engaged in an itinerant ministry. He has also authored over fifty books. He and his wife, Sylvia, have two sons, Tim and Marty, and five grandchildren.

    Author(s): Brown, Paul. E
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:
A book about Judah? Maybe you don’t even remember the man himself. Or, if you do, you may feel that his story is a very unpleasant one, one you’d rather not dwell on. But perhaps you also remember him pleading for the life of his half-brother Benjamin. Can you read that part of his story without being deeply moved—perhaps even to tears? And the tribe of Judah: why did that become so important in the Bible? And who is it who is ‘the Lion of the tribe of Judah’? In this book, Paul E. Brown discovers many surprising and helpful truths as he reviews the frequently ignored life and legacy of Judah.
    About the Author:
Paul E. Brown spent forty-two years in pastoral ministry before his retirement. He no longer preaches, nor drives very far, but he still writes and is the author of several books published by Day One. He and his wife, Mary, live in a village not far from Lancaster.

    1.2 MB 05-Oct-2020
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

    Author(s): Cheeseman, John
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:
When Elijah lived in Israel in 900 BC, truth was being compromised and the people had departed from the worship of the one true God. It was a multi-faith society. There was immorality at the highest level. Toleration trumped truth. True prophets were being persecuted. It was much like Western society today. What can Christians do in such a spiritual and moral climate? Elijah is our great example and inspiration as we dare to contend for the truth, even taking on the religious establishment if necessary. What could be more timely or relevant for the Christian church at the present time?

    About the Author
John Cheeseman went to school at Epsom College in Surrey and was converted to the Christian faith at the age of 17, during a Scripture Union houseparty. He studied Classics at Oxford University, before training for pastoral ministry at Trinity College, Bristol. He has served in churches all over the South East of England, most recently at Holy Trinity, Eastbourne, where he was the Vicar of a large town centre church, with a strategic ministry for visitors and holiday makers.
He has now left the pastoring of a single church, in order to concentrate on an itinerant ministry of Bible teaching, which is where his heart really lies. John is the author of 2 publications— Saving Grace (1997) and The Priority of Preaching (2006), (Banner of Truth Trust). He is married to Joy and they have three grown-up children: Peter, David and Cherry.

    Author(s): Cheeseman, John
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:
While the life of Elijah is familiar to most Christians, the mission and ministry of his successor, Elisha, is not so well known—probably because of the great drama that surrounded Elijah’s service for the Lord. The majority of Elijah’s miracles were performed in the context of death and destruction, whereas the miracles of Elisha were mainly to do with healing and restoration.

It could therefore be argued that Elijah was primarily a prophet of judgement, whereas his successor was more a prophet of grace. If this is so, the story of Elisha’s life is very relevant to the times in which we live. Elisha prophesied in Israel during the ninth century BC as a shining light amid the darkness of idolatry and unbelief which prevailed at the time. We would therefore do well to follow his noble example as we seek to be witnesses for the Lord in our generation.

    Description:
Caleb is one of the forgotten heroes of the Bible. One of the twelve spies sent out by Moses into Canaan, he was commended by God for his faithfulness. While others were fearful, he believed they could conquer the land. He remained faithful throughout forty years in the wilderness, until he and Joshua alone entered the land, as God had promised, with the younger generation. His story thus takes us all the way from Egypt to Canaan. Even in old age, he proved himself a courageous warrior, famously demanding, ‘Give me this mountain’, and a generous father, giving freely to his daughter. He is an inspiration to us all.

    Author(s): Maclean, Malcolm
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:
Abraham was called from a pagan background to become a spiritual catalyst in God’s plan for the salvation of the world. But what kind of man was he? The Bible describes several important experiences that he went through and how in most of them he revealed that he was the friend of God. Some of those experiences were pleasant for him, whereas others were very difficult. Yet in all of them he has left an example for those who, like him, are travelling to the city that God has prepared for those who love him.
In this book, Malcolm Maclean considers those events in the life of Abraham and explains their relevance for believers in Jesus today.

    About the Author:
Malcolm Maclean is from Inverness, where he is the minister of Greyfriars and Stratherrick Free Church of Scotland. Prior to entering the Christian ministry he was Managing Editor of Christian Focus Publications. This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

    Author(s): Hamp, Douglas; Steinle, Chris
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:

End-times Bible prophecy is like a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle partially done. Many godly people have come before us establishing the borders of the puzzle. Parts of the faces and landscape are taking form, yet without the box cover showing the finished product, no one really knows how it ought to look when it is entirely assembled. The timing of the rapture is a puzzle-piece incorrectly placed by many mainstream theologians.

Authors Dr. Douglas Hamp and Chris Steinle take a fresh look at the rapture based on extensive Bible prophecy and a literal interpretation of the Scriptures. It's time to rethink God's purpose for the rapture: Is it an escape or a preparation for something greater? The rapture was prophesied from Genesis to Revelation. Why have dozens of rapture prophecies been overlooked by mainstream theology? Explore the ancient texts and discover God's clear and consistent revelation of end time events.

    * Explore dozens of rapture verses.
    * Understand the logic behind Paul's eschatology.
    * Learn why the Day of Lord includes God's indignation, the rapture, and Second Coming.

    * Consider the connection between the rapture and the redemption of the body.

Corrupting the Image  (Corrupting the Image)
    3.2 MB 03-Apr-2020
This is a paid module and requires an unlock key to be used.

    Author(s): Hamp, Douglas
    Module version: 1.0
    Description:

    Preface
Genesis 3:15 tells us of two seeds that will come upon the world – one will be the seed of the woman, which is Jesus. However, the other seed spoken of is Satan’s and that is where my research took off. I wanted to discover if the seed of Satan (Antichrist) would be an imitation of the virgin birth and if so, how that was possible genetically. What I uncovered was a war to destroy the image of God led by Satan since the earliest of times.

My method: Due to my language studies in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel, I have been able to do my own linguistic research throughout this book. I primarily conducted my own investigation of words and phrases using theWord Bible Software and therefore, I may not always cite a lexicon for authority. TheWord allowed me to search words in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic and trace their usage throughout the entire Bible. I used primary sources wherever possible and drew my own conclusions from those. However, I did frequently turn to secondary literature to demonstrate that there are others that have come to similar conclusions – therefore when I state that a Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic words means such and such, the conclusion is based on my investigation. If I cite another, then I state the source. I use extra-biblical material (e.g. the book of Enoch and the Targumim) as I would a modern commentary – it is not sacred canon. However, unlike a modern commentary, those ancient works were often written by Jews who very likely had some insight that we do not. The method of discovery throughout this book will be to take the words as literally as possible and use the grammatical-historical approach of interpretation and we will find that doing so will make all of the pieces fit precisely.

One Piece of the End Times Puzzle: The topic of the image and how it is corrupted is central to the end times but is only one piece of the end-times puzzle. The study of the end times is complex as there are numerous pieces of the puzzle that need to be accounted for. Consequently, I am not specifically looking at the prophecies concerning the nation of Israel nor the wars and rumors of wars, nor the environment, etc. in this book. Those issues are clearly part of the puzzle but will not be covered here. Rather, I believe that this topic of the image serves as a larger backdrop to those issues. I believe that I have properly identified the root cause of many of the events that are coming upon the world through the study of the image. Because the image is under attack and Satan wants to destroy humanity (those who hold God’s image), certain things have happened in history and more is on the way.

Premillennial: I hold to the premillennial position (the Lord will return bodily to set up His thousand year reign on earth) and I believe it has ample proof and thus I will not attempt to prove it here, but will simply use it as my starting point. Given the many texts that I use to support my thesis, I believe the reader will see that a literal reading of the Bible warrants the premillennial approach.

Reading Plan: There are parts of this book that go into a lot of detail at times to prove beyond a doubt what has happened and what is coming. I have labored to write the book in a non-technical way and have put the non-essentials in the notes at the end of the book. Each chapter is the foundation of the next. Part one of the book discusses the Genesis 3:15 prophecy as it pertains to the Messiah and our future restoration. Parts two and three show the evidence of Satan’s plan to raise up his own seed. For those only interested in the end times (without the explanation of why things are the way they are) read the narrative and then proceed to part two. However, to get the full picture of the makeup of the Antichrist please begin in part one. The image of God serves as a foundation for the rest of the book and in fact I believe a proper understanding of the image of God serves us well as we study the Bible in general. I hope that by understanding who God is and what He is like, you will have a greater appreciation of just how much God loves us and what exciting things He has in store for us! Please skip over the Hebrew and Greek language insertions if those are a distraction to you. They are included because I felt that it was important to thoroughly prove the points that I am making.

Future Book: My intention is to write another book as a follow up to this book describing in detail the events of the Messianic age (Millennium). We will examine biblically the conditions on the earth and the New Jerusalem and also how those that survive the tribulation will receive their new bodies.

    Author(s): Anderson, Clive; Edwards, Brian

Description: Anderson and Edwards take into consideration some extremely difficult questions about the Bible and answer them. Although these chapters very short and highly readable, they are chocked full of information and references, as well as images of the topics under consideration. While some skeptics attack Scripture as "having never happened" and being pure myth, there is a very strong testimony from archaeology to the Bible. This work hits on a number of secular history's comments on Bible people and events. If you are looking to build up your faith, this is the book for you!

    Author(s): Hamp, Douglas M
    Module version: 1.0
Description: Discovering the Language of Jesus: Hebrew or Aramaic? For the last 150 years, both popular and academic views have asserted that Jesus spoke Aramaic as his primary language of communication since supposedly Hebrew died out after the children of Israel were taken into Babylonian captivity. This view, however, is not based on the testimony of the Old Testament, the New Testament, historical sources, or Jesus’ actual words. Just which language did Jesus and his disciples speak?

    Author(s): Hamp, Douglas M
    Module version: 1.0
Description: Douglas Hamp’s work The First Six Days is a much needed contribution to settle the question of days or ages. As a Hebrew language specialist trained at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, he demonstrates convincingly from the pages of Scripture that the days of the Genesis creation account are literal days. He also carefully clarifies some misrepresentations of what day means in Hebrew. This is followed up by a stimulating review of the literal, six-day position held by ancient Jewish and Christian interpreters as well as archaeological corroboration of the biblical record.

Manners and Customs of Bible Lands  (Wight-Manners)
    1 MB 19-Oct-2014
    Author(s): Wight, Fred H
    Module version: 1.4
Description: Manners and Customs of Bible Lands
THE BIBLE WRITTEN BY ORIENTALS. It is easy for Occidentals to overlook the fact that the Scriptures had their origin in the East, and that each one of the writers was actually an Oriental. Since this is so, in a very real sense the Bible may be said to be an Oriental Book. But many are quite apt to read into the Scriptures Western manners and customs, instead of interpreting them from the Eastern point of view.
Knowing Oriental manners and customs necessary to understand the Bible. Many passages of Scripture that are hard for the Westerner to understand, are readily explained by a knowledge of the customs and manners of Bible lands. On the other hand, to ignore this subject is to deprive one's self of a thorough mastery of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments.
A study of the manners and customs of Arabs of Bible lands invaluable. For many years the Arabs were the custodians of Palestine. In the seventh century, an army of Arabs broke away from Arabia and invaded the Near East. They brought with them the habits of life inherited from countless generations before them. Since they have lived in these lands ever since, they have largely become the conservators of the manners and customs of Bible times.
During the centuries, Arab customs largely unchange. There are three classes of Arabs in these lands. First, there is the Nomad or Bedouin Arab, who is a shepherd and lives in tents. Second, there is the Peasant or Fellahin Arab, who is a farmer and usually lives in a village one-room house. Third, there is the City or Belladin Arab, who as a rule engages in business in the larger cities. The Belladin Arab has come in contact with western civilization more than the other classes, and therefore his manner of life has undergone a certain amount of change. On the other hand, the Peasant Arab has changed his customs very little, and the Nomad Arab practically none at all. Through the centuries the Arabs have for the most part considered it to be morally wrong to change their ancient customs. For this reason the manners and customs of Bible-land Arabs are very much the same as the Jews of Bible times. There are some exceptions to this rule, and most of those have to do with religious observances.
Sources of material about manners and customs of Bible-land Arabs. For information about the life-habits of the Arabs of the Near East we are indebted to natives of Bible lands, long time residents, missionaries, scholars, and travelers.
What about the customs of the Jews who have returned to the new nation of Israel? The customs of the Jews who are now returning from various parts of the world to the land of their fathers, will not be of great value for this study, because they are largely the customs of those lands from whence they have come, and in many cases that means Western customs. There may be a few of the returning Israelites and some of those who have lived long in the land, who have the old-time habits of life, especially religious observances, but those who do are very much in the minority.
Other sources of information about manners and customs of Bible times. Historians who have written about the time of Christ or of the Apostles have often given information about the manner of living of those days, and of even earlier days. Also the findings of archaeologists have been a valuable source of knowledge on this subject. Things unearthed by the spade, such as pottery, various articles of household furniture, remains of old houses, inscriptions, and the like, often reveal secrets of how men in the long ago lived and acted. Ancient civilizations lost to the world for centuries have been revealed to men by the work of excavators in Bible lands.

    0.2 MB 02-May-2012
    Author(s): Pickering, Wilbur N.
    Module version: 1.1
    Description:

Wilbur N. Pickering is a Christian missionary in Valparaiso, Brazil. He has a ThM and a PhD in Linguistics. Of those actively involved in textual criticism, no one holds a more radical view in defense of the inerrancy and objective authority of the Sacred Text. This includes the position that the precise original wording has been preserved to our day and that we can know what it is.

In Defense of the Objective Authority of the Sacred Text aims to show that we can know exactly the precise wording of the original text; that the precise wording of the Sacred Text has been preserved; that if it has been preserved, then it must be inspired; and if inspired, then it indeed has "Objective Authority" over those submitted to it by its Author.

    Bible Doctrines  (BibDoc)
    0.6 MB 02-Apr-2011
    Author(s): Cambron, Mark G.
    Module version: 1.0
    Description: Beliefs that Matter
Paul distinguished between the simplicities of the Word and its more profound truths. When writing to the Corinthians he said, “I have fed you with milk, and not with meat” (I Cor. 3:2). Certainly, newborn babes in Christ thrive on the sincere milk of the Word. With spiritual development, however, the meat of Scripture is masticated. One wonders whether the prevalent carnality among religious people would have been prevented if only they had consistently listened to doctrinal preaching in their churches. We fear that much of the present-day preaching is not only simple but superficial. The surface of the Bible is skimmed, but its depths are ignored. How grateful to the Lord we are for fundamental seminaries and Bible institutes all over the land, in which young people are taught to handle the great doctrines of the Word! The Tennessee Temple Bible School is one of the outstanding training schools of this kind in the land, and is fortunate in having a gifted teacher like Dr. Mark G. Cambron as its Dean. Dr. Cambron’s monumental work, Bible Doctrines, reveals how he has launched out into the deep of God’s Word, and is able to present, in a clear and concise manner, those glorious doctrines of which God in Christ is Author, Matter and End. We bespeak for Bible Doctrines a wide circulation among pastors, students and Christian workers in this and other lands!

Practically all of the prophecy teachers today got their basic prophecy knowledge directly or indirectly from Larkin and C. I. Scolfield. Larkin's works, as well as Scolfield's, are definitive, works that will endure until Christ's return. No other book since their publishing over 75 years ago has much improved on them.

    Unmasking Evolution  (UnEvol)
    0.4 MB 06-Jul-2009
    Author(s): Smart, Laurence D
    Module version: 1.0
Description: Unmasking Evolution, The Resource Book, by Laurence D Smart
I have been teaching science for over 25 years, but I have had a number of problems with the theory of evolution.

    1. I knew that there were no absolute proofs for evolution.
    2. Almost all of my colleagues taught evolution as a fact.
    3. All the textbooks presented evolution and the geological ages as facts.
    4. The media presented evolution as a fact, announcing new 'proofs' with great fanfare, but not reciprocating when 'proofs' were falsified.
    5. I knew that many of the 'proofs' of evolution were no longer regarded as proof by the world's leading scientists.
    6. I knew that a lot of research was disproving evolution, but the results were either not reaching the teaching profession, or the teachers were biased and refused to present them to their students.

With this background, I decided to write this book. It was written as a resource for science teachers and students, as a collation of information that contradicts what is being taught in schools.

I have structured each section by addressing its basic premises and then replying from logic, research, and the world's leading scientists.

Each section is introduced with the statement, "Evolution says". I did this because this is the way it is imposed on school children, i.e. as an irrefutable dictum. I reply with "The facts are", presenting factual material that should be included in lessons in schools.

The material I present in this book represents the factual information that was available at the time of publishing. There will be a myriad of responses regarding their validity, age, etc., however, these will be personal opinions which do not restrict the contents from being considered by others.

    0.2 MB 28-Jun-2009
    Author(s): Newberry, Thomas
    Module version: 1.0
Description: Mr. Newberry’s lectures and writings upon the tabernacle and the temple have been of spiritual profit to thousands. He constructed a model of the temple of exquisite beauty, and quite unique in its design and workmanship, the result of great research in the original Scriptures, so that it might convey to modern people some idea of that gorgeous temple which Solomon built from the patterns given to his father David by the Spirit of God, as Moses also constructed the tabernacle from the pattern which God gave to him in the holy mount. This model, with various writings in connection with it and bearing upon other subjects, will be lasting memorials to the value of his Bible research.

Description: In den Jahren 75–79 n.
