Re: Putting the beta files into an existing .1450 build

Great, thanks! I had already installed the spellchecker files as well. All seems well.

Thanks again.

Putting the beta files into an existing .1450 build

Greetings all,

I've only recently installed .1450 TW (in Compact mode) and haven't done any modifications. Is it okay, then, to put the beta files into the TW installation folder I made for it and run it there without worrying about messing up the existing version?

Thanks.

Re: Basic to Advanced Tutorials of theWORD

These are really great. Unfortunately, I am not one who possesses an intuitive ability to poke around software in order to figure things out...it usually goes badly! So I greatly appreciate the videos.

Re: Manual and FAQ

Greetings,

With regard to the v. 3 manual, are there any particulars of differences to note between the manual and theWord v. 5?
Are all the installation and module locations and what have you the same in both?
Any references in the manual that are obsolete or in error in view of v. 5?

Thanks much.

Starting from scratch with theWord

Greetings, I've just built a new system with Windows—was learning and using Linux on my old system, but never used theWord before I put that system to bed—so I'm starting from scratch with theWord. I have version 5.0.0.1450. Do I need any other updates or to do any updating of any kind? If so, could...

Greetings,

Say, are these tutorials found anywhere else besides Facebook? I don't have Facebook.

Thanks.

Re: Better in VirtualBox or Wine when running Linux?

Jeff. In Mint 19.1, a wine search in the Software Center shows PlayonLinux, Q4Winfe, Winetricks, Wine 1.6, shiki-wine-theme, Wine-staging, and a few other odd-ball listings, including wine-stable, which, before I removed it, showed several rating stars; this one has no stars. The Synaptic Package Ma...

Re: Better in VirtualBox or Wine when running Linux?

Wine is quick and easy to install on MX Linux from the package manager. Use the test repo for the latest version Jeff, Confused here a bit (new to Linux and all). First, what is the test repo and where is it? Second, if you install Wine through the package manager, do you still use the test repo? I...

Re: Wine gave Mono and Gecko messages during installation

Hmm, I guess Gecko got installed without asking permission! Sorry for the misinformation :-/ Oh, no, it didn't get installed without my permission; it popped up the message notifying me that it needed to be installed. I was just letting you know that it needs Gecko, but I don't know about Mono; it ...

Re: Wine gave Mono and Gecko messages during installation

Thanks. Gecko, however, is required; twice I've had to install it by clicking the Install button on the message that comes up--it has come up within the program twice. Otherwise, hyperlinks and similar won't show. Other than that, I haven't had the message for Mono, and that's fine with me. Thanks a...

Re: Wine gave Mono and Gecko messages during installation

UPDATE: Okay, the program is running, and all seems well. I got the same Gecko message when I tried to see a list of resources or something; I chose the Install button, and that solved that. I haven't yet gotten that Mono message again, but I'm wondering if it won't come up again even if I need it. ...

Wine gave Mono and Gecko messages during installation

Greetings all. So, I got wine installed...I guess! Running it with theWord gave two messages during installation (they don't pop up afterwards)--see attachments (I don't now how to get them to post in the message area). Now, I did find This site and this site But not much else. If these are applicab...
