Post Bible-software for linux
Hi!

I hope, it is OK to ask that question in this forum:

Can someone recommend some biblesoftware which is running under linux without the need of emulators? Because I'm using an eeepc I don't want to waste the relatively little ressources I've got for an emulator.

Thanks for your suggestions

I actually never tried one but heard a few times of BibleTime (http://www.bibletime.info/).

Greetings,

Check out the Sword Project at http://www.crosswire.org/sword/index.jsp
In addition to BibleTime they have links to GnomeSword and BibleDesktop which I think is Java based and cross-platform.

And also remember: Wine Is Not an Emulator.

Although I understand that you'd prefer a native Linux Bible programm, resourcewise it might be more economic to run theWord with Wine, than another programm using Java, or beeing not very well programmed.

theWord runs on my Linux Mint (Ubuntu-based) system flawlessly and very fast.

BibleTime or Xiphos (the new name for what was gnome-sword) should be as fast as any other native Linux program on your computer but you'll find them so basic that you just may find yourself willing to put up with a little bit of a lag to run TheWord under WINE. I expect that the only slowdown you may even really notice is when the program is loading.
