USING THE WORD IN LINUX

In case anyone is interested. I have changed over from Win 7 to Linux
Mint on several of my home machines. The Word runs very nicely under Wine. I moved the TW portable directory under home, made a launcher for it and it works perfectly. I changed my HD to an SSD before making the change and frankly it now runs faster now than it did under Win 7 with a mechanical 2.5" hard drive. Good job. I hoped that it would run, even if it was a little cludgy. It is even better than running it under Windows. There is nothing as good as THE WORD written in linux yet. If you are thinking of moving to linux but did not want to lose THE WORD and you can copy files then do it. I now have my cake and eating too. Linux plus my favorite Bible program.

I'm with Robert on how well The Word functions in Linux. I have switched over from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 10.4 with Gnome 3.4.2. The program operates very well with no glitches.

Keep up the fine work Costas!
God is not unfair. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him and how you have shown your love for Him by helping other Christians, as you are still doing.

I second that. I also switched recently to Red Hat and everything works like a breeze with Wine, except for the Clipboard Monitor :( . But that is a known limitation.

I still use the command being in theWord folder and seems to run pretty good:

wine explorer /desktop=word,1366x720 "theword.exe"

Thought I'd do a follow-up on this subject. I run theWord on both Linux Mint 20 and LMDE4 (dual booting), both running wine 5.21. theWord runs beautifully on both installs, clipboard monitor plays beautifully between TW and my Linux apps. I also have Logos 9 running on both Linux platforms so I can do comparison studies between the two. This all runs on an SSD with 16 Gb of ram and 3 monitors, so performance is incredible!
