My new download of The Word freezes up when I try to open another layout (even a predefined one) after I have created a new layout. How can I resolve this?

Richard,
As the current release of theWord has been about for six years and we have not received reports of such an issue I suspect it is more of a computer issue than a theWord issue.

I am not sure how to advise you on a system issue.
What download of theWord did you use to install theWord.(Check the size of the download)
What type of installation did you do? (There are three to choose from in the installer)

Update.
I just installed the main English package on a Windows 10 installation.
Made a new layout and saved it. Changed to a different starter layout and back to my new user layout without issue.

This is what I downloaded, the main package. Should I delete the present program and download again?

Just to be sure there is not a problem with your Hard drive, you could perform a check before you proceed.

Right click on your C: drive and select Properties, then run the check.




Yes, uninstall theWord. Download the setup package you mentioned and install again.
