Hybrid .cmt/.gbk Module Building Instructions

Post by Doctordavet »

Hi, Costas,

Any word on when instructions will be released on how to build the excellent hybrid module (.gbk/.cmt)?

Hi Dave,
immediately after the imminent release. I chose to not include the hybrid as an official feature of the new version (although it does work as you know). I still need to finish some details for better support on the UI level,

Sorry to ask again, Costas, but am wondering if there will be any instructions for us module builders as to how to build the hybrid modules. I know someone figured it out; but alas, I'm not as smart as some others.

In viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4857, I found WJ Swanepoel's attachment very helpful. This is the resulting hybrid module: http://www.wordmodules.com/the-word-mod ... ing-for-j/

Basically, this was an experiment for me, and there is no cookbook to pass along. I would be happy to answer questions, perhaps towards coming up with a more methodical approach. The key steps:

From WJS, "verse.sync=1" was added to the config table. The "rel_refs" table was created using his SQL. Two different modules were created. One for the book itself, one for the commentary references. A welcome surprise, the modules were eventually joined using drag n drop. The status bar read "Adding ..." then "Indexing ...". You have to appreciate our chief programmer!

Creating the "rel_refs" table was done in a text editor by combining elements of a spreadsheet with the authors data and the other tables for topic_id, etc.. This was formatted for the table with regular expressions.

I hope this is a start for some more of your fine work ...

It's mostly an issue of adding a couple of utils first, not of putting some instructions I think.

Do you plan on releasing a "hybrid building utility" at some point? If so (please!), soon?
