Copy Verse Formatting Problem

Post by Doctordavet »

Hello, Gentlemen,

I'm having a problem with TW6 (win10) remembering my copy verse formatting. Let me show you a picture:

I keep adding one space after the "%r --" and saving the layout, but TW6 routinely does not remember that space the next time I open the layout. Am I doing something wrong?

Dave, looks like it is purposely being removed in code. From my testing, I think I can cheat this by using a type of space character that the code does not account for :)
Try copy paste this below, (not including the quotes)
"%r -- "
This has an EN SPACE, after the --.
[POST EDITED]
An EN SPACE PROBABLY WORKS BETTER. Has wider font coverage.

Jon,

Thank you. That seems to have corrected the problem.

Followup question #1 - how do you insert an "EN SPACE"? I haven't noticed the problem occurring with my other layouts, but you never know when that will occur again.

Followup question #2 - is that a glitch in the software that needs repair?

Followup question #3 - Is there a font that TW doesn't work well with (I am using Segoe UI as both my Bible view and Book view font)?

#1 Insert en space by holding down the left Alt key and type 8194 on the keypad if you have one(you can let go of Alt key now and it will insert the en space. [not working for unknown reason, so use BabelMap]
or install BabelMap https://www.babelstone.co.uk/Software/BabelMap.html
search en space, click on it in the grid and it puts the character in the edit buffer for you to copy.
Pasting to the Fonts -> Font coverage menu with the "all characters in this text" selected and pressing "Calculate font coverage" will give a list of fonts on your system that can display it correctly.

2# It appears to something added to theWord to prevent extra spaces being added.
Not sure if it would be a simple fix. Will ask Jonathan to take a look next year, when not so busy.

3# Any font not on the list #1 won't work correctly.

In an editable book view, I typed leftalt-8194 and got a question mark. That's a good metaphor for what is going in my mind as I try to process this problem!

However, again, my thanks for the "cheat" provided.

One more note, that may be helpful; this problem did not exist in TW5. I think I was using the official build, and not any of the betas that followed.
