General use of TotheWord

Post by jonathangkoehn »

There are a couple main ways that TotheWord can import/convert a file.
----There are many hints through out the interface to help the process. Also explore the Examples folder.

1. Basic conversion (Recommended for starting out)
--Open a file such as RTF, RVF, DOCX, HTML, etc directly in the interface
--Edit using Find/Replace a Regex tool
--Add the needed markups for topics, etc if a Book (Dct, Gbk, Map) (Book Editor)
OR <c>Ref</c> if a Commentary (Book Editor)
OR verses like 1.1.1.In the beginning.... on their own lines if a Bible (Bible Editor)

2. Complex conversion
--Regex Rules (Built through the Regex Editor)
--Load these rules (Book Editor > File > Open > 1. Load Regex Rules) and then load the file(s) into Book Editor > File > Open > Special Open for Books in the (Book Editor)
--Load these rules (Bible Editor > File > Open > 1. Load Regex Rules) and then load the file(s) into Bible Editor > File > Open > 5. Open Bible

Lastly for both of these steps you will need to have your Configuration files, About, etc.
Enjoy your building!

The interface is your friend, please explore it there are many hints as you hover over different buttons, etc explaining what they do.
Also explore the Menu area, Standard Formatting for example attempts to bring your resource content into the quality standard format that we use for official resources for theWord.

about this tutorial
https://youtu.be/DHuzFE2iEgg?t=70

You never showed which file to open, the unzipped folder (engtcent_usfm) has many files named 01-INTengtcent.usfm upto 76 such files. No regex or any ttwrx file in that folder. Your screen never shows which one you are opening or what you're renaming.

I dont find any rtf file on that site https://ebible.org/bible/details.php?id=engtcent&all=1

Greetings Jacob,
Good points, sorta.
However, you will note this is an introduction not an in-depth tutorial.
I am planning on making a more from scratch tutorial connected to the Regex Rules. But even at that it is just a start each conversion is unique.
Note converting files requires digging in and searching and studying there is a learning curve.
Did you take the time to look through the help files? As is mentioned in the introduction videos?

Note I did not mention there was an RTF file perhaps re-watch the video. I explained that the information was taken from that website via the html and then converted using Microsoft Word then brought into TotheWord.

Thank you, JG, now I am getting some idea about it. I watched about half an hour of it, and rewatched yestedays videos. I wanted to know the very fundamentals, and right now I shouldn't jump on regex, now I understood what regex is for; it's commands to search and replace complex data.
I dont see the logo on rvf files in mine, they are without any logo, what's the difference? I have selected totheword for usfm files, to those files extensions recognize ttw. About rvf I see that we just paste the Bible about section in the book editor and save it as rvf.

I see how complex it is, and you should show how to move after converting a plain xml from twconverter. The advance regex was overwhelming, I need to rewatch videos. How is the final file generated in the form of nt, ont? Maybe you showed it in the video, I will check tomorrow. Also show how to add strong's codes to a bible which doesnt have it. This one had already had it I guess.

I wish you can upload the whole help files on the website so we can start asking questions to bard.google.com directly about every detail. Right now, it only gave the youtube videos. AI chatbots are most helpful to learn these kinds of programming. I have no experience of programming. I am sure, once we get the fundamentals, it will not be difficult.

Jacob11 to build a Bible takes time drag and drop is not possible. It will take time thinking through it. As to converting a xml file the principles are the same as a usfm file.
I recommend re-reading the helpfiles, and watching the youtube videos and then reviewing other Bibles like the BSB Interlinear.NT-Grk, KJV.ont etc. Then various questions that you have like strong etc. should make sense.

Specifically for adding Strong's
If you want to add Strong's to a Bible file I recommend: iBiblia, https://github.com/rubiot/ibiblia
and its help manual here https://github.com/rubiot/ibiblia/wiki/ ... English%29 TotheWord is not designed for adding Strong's in that is complex and iBiblia is good for that.
