Please put comments & suggestions here instead of emailing. It will help keep them in an organized location and also help prevent re-explanations.

search all from current position

Post by mathetes »

TotheWord is an awesome program! Thank you so much for providing it.

It would be nice if there was an option to search all beginning from the current position. A simple checkbox to enable searching to the end of the document would be nice, but it could also be helpful to have options for up, down, and wrap.

A way to go to the last change after completing a search would also be helpful.

Simples search from caret has been added.
With regex it is only possible to search forward in TotheWord and not backwards. (Wrap may be possible but Replace All from top does this already essentially)

HeadingsView tree

Post by mathetes »

When trying to locate a place in a large document, it would be helpful if in addition to the Topics and TreeView tabs there were also a HeadingsView tab. This would list in a hierarchical tree just the text of the paragraphs that use a standard heading style.

The Topics tab doesn't list the <c> and <:> tags as a collapsible tree. This list could get rather long with over 30,000 verses in the Bible. The TreeView tab lists all the paragraphs being used. Unless I am missing something, neither of these views offer a tree view of the text based on its heading style. For commentaries, maybe the Topics tab could utilize the heading style information if used in order to create a collapsible tree. The use of multiple <:> tags in topical books already provide a hierarchy that maybe could be used to create a collapsible tree.

For an example, see https://www.customguide.com/word/navigation-pane-word.

Find/Replace by style format

Post by mathetes »

Being able to do a Find/Replace by a paragraph and/or character style would be handy as a Format Option. In addition to the font name and size, I'd like to see drop down boxes that would allow being able to select a style to find and to replace with.

project files

Post by mathetes »

A nice feature to add to TotheWord would be project files. It would be nice to have just one project file that could be opened, which would list all other files that are used by project (documents, mappings, regex rules, about, etc.) and any settings needed to open those files. It would also a helpful if these projects could then also be listed in a Most Recently Used (MRU) list so that they could be more conveniently opened.

When building a module, if the File Name edit box in the Save As dialogue is blank or if a new config file has been opened, then the File Name edit box should default to the title of the module as given in the module configuration.

It would be nice to have the capability to define a custom user reference_names.ref file that can be loaded in addition to the default reference_names.ref file. That way when there are new versions of TotheWord, copying over the new files won't mistakenly overwrite any revisions the user might have made.
