Check the path of the pdf file and the path of the module that you have the link in. Maybe you forgot you changed its location? so they are no longer relative.

I have it working ok with release and beta .1363

I have a sheepish grin on my face! It wasn't the compact thing - I had made module groupings and had the PDF linkage module under "General" under "Books", but forgot to change the relative path from "..\PDFs\name" to "..\..\PDFs\name"! Now everything works as it should. Thanks Jon for pointing me in the right direction.

I have what appears to be a problem. I run TW on Ubuntu Studio 16.04 and I have it installed in PlayonLinux (which causes TW to play beautifully. I cannot get my PDF files to run! The path to TW is "/home/darrel/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/theWord/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/theWord/Books". The hyperlink is shown below. I am obviously missing something, but don't know what! I have tried installing TW both under wine and under PlayonLinux, and the results are the same - nothing shows! Everything else plays wonderfully, just PDF's are the issue.

Hi Costas,
I did that but still nothing happens. I've attached another screen shot showing the changes. When I click on the hyperlink nothing happens. I can go to file manager and double-click the file and the pdf shows beautifully. When I used to run on Windows things worked, but since going strictly Linux it does not work.

I run TW under PlayonLinux (although the results are the same if I install it just under Wine), and the full path is "/home/darrel/.PlayOnLinux/wineprefix/theWord/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/theWord/Books/PDFs/". The Wine installation is "/home/darrel/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/theWord/Books/PDFs/".

If your modules is under ./Books, shouldn't your relative path be ./PDFs/xxx.pdf ?

sorry Darrel, no idea. I see several letters there (capital, lower case). Try with a simple dir and file name (all lower case, etc), just in case you mistype something. Make sure your module is indeed under Books. Start by placing the pdf in the same folder so you are sure the relative linking works in the first place, then move in one directory below.

This is very frustrating. I renamed the pdf file to test.pdf, put it in the Books folder, tried every combination of periods and forward/backward slashes, even moved it to the theWord folder. Nothing appears to work. Is there anyone running TW under Linux that has hyperlinks to external files working?
