Beta 5.0.0.1499

Beta 1499 on MX Linux using Wine.

Exported a topic using all three formats; RTF, HTML, and Word document using LibreOffice. All Exports seem to work well now!

However, line wrapping is not working properly for me in Bible and book views, words are cut off. Reverting to previous version.

Thanks.

This beta does have problems. I am working on a dictionary and when I right-click a word to change its formatting I cannot read nor see the word. It turns a weird blue color as shown in the 2nd screen shot. This did not happen in 1498, so I will need to revert back until this is fixed. The first screen shot is the same in TW version 1498. This happens in both Linux Mint 20 and LMDE 4, both running wine 5.17. Thanks.

Works ok in Windows 10.
Let's see if any other Linux reports come in.

I concur with Jeff re:wrapping. trichview demos behave the same way in WINE. Screenshot is of Compare Bible view.

Since TRichView demos do this as well are there any Linux/Wine changes that could help?

I have run into this same issue on both Linux Mint 20 and LMDE 4.

Installing in a new WINE prefix made no difference so it's not a theme or display scaling problem. I expect it's a situation where Trichview doesn't play well with WINE, in this case something that is handled in a subtly different way on Windows than on WINE. Had a situation a number of years ago with fonts; Trichview expected a particular behavior with fonts that was handled by Windows OS but not by WINE.

Trichview introduced Uniscribe, in V16 and it is the default now for rendering complex bi-directional text. theWord was not using V16 and is being upgraded with V17.

So the long and the short of it is that Wine version 1.8/5.0.2 is not supporting this Uniscribe rendering fully, so they need to fix that limitation.

Here in this video you can see the difference in rendering when using the two methods in Linux Mint 18.1

I don't know about the others, but I run wine 5.17. Wine 1.8 is VERY, VERY old and no longer valid. It would be good if the fix was based on current versions of wine.

I have updated my wine to the latest stable version 5.0.2

@Jonathan, the ScaleRichView demo has the same issue with text running outside the window and the text runs right off the page! Inserting a table of fixed size in the TRichView demo does produce a horizontal scroll bar when the window is sized smaller than the table width. These situations occur with the trichview supplied readme.rvf on WINE 5.17 with the default screen resolution of 96 dpi or my preferred 110 dpi.

Given these sorts of issues, I know of no settings in either linux or WINE that would help.

wine will need to support Uniscribe to have the best rendering of bi-directional texts, othewise theWord will have to have some setting specific to Linux to make it use the old Windows method of rendering text.

You can see from the video I posted in the .7z file that Uniscribe is not working in Wine at this time.

Uniscribe works well enough in WINE for WinEdt 10 to function reasonably well. It displays a mix of fonts including RTL, has scroll bars that appear as needed and keeps the text within the window.

Let's hope I am wrong in my assertion.

Can someone check the WLC. Is it rendering correctly for you in Linux. Mine displays the numbers in the text, but the HiSB appears ok.
